The Institute of Public Health Nutrition (IPHN) is responsible for formulating policy and strategies for nutrition activities, programs, research, training and surveillance in Bangladesh. It hosts the National Nutrition Services (NNS) which aims to reduce the prevalence of malnutrition among the people of Bangladesh with special emphasis on the children, women, adolescents and underprivileged sections of society.
Bangladesh has made considerable progress during the past two decades, the prevalence of malnutrition is still one of the highest among the developing countries. The country is on track to attain most of the Millennium Development Goals relating to human development, such as reducing child and maternal mortality. However, these improvements are yet to be translated into positive changes in terms of maternal and child nutrition.
